HOW TO SET UP THE BIKE SPEED SHIFT

Setting the speeds on a bike is not a complicated procedure (although at first glance it seems so). If you are configuring two switches, start from the rear.

HOW TO SET THE REAR SWITCH

First you need to make sure it is not bent (the chain tensioner is parallel to the cassette stars). Now let’s start adjusting.

At high speed, the chain should be on the small star of the cassette. We put everything in this position. To adjust, we need to find two screws (in the figure they are indicated by H and L).

Screw H must be tightened so that the derailleur roller is aligned with the line with the small star. In the same way, screw L should be tightened. the roller should align with the large sprocket.

After that, we pull the cable (the maximum speed is on the shifter). It should fit exactly into the groove near the fixing bolt (number one in the picture). Now it should be tightened.

We fasten the cable with a stretch. Check if high gears engage well. If not, loosen the cable with the adjuster (marked with number two). Also check if the speeds are reset well (if it is bad, then tighten the cable while unscrewing the tension adjuster).

The final step in adjusting the rear derailleur will be to set the smoothness when shifting gears. To do this, you need to put the chain on a small star in the front and a large one in the back.

The tension screw (marked with number three) should be tightened so that the top roller on the rear derailleur is as close as possible to the star, but does not touch it.

Now put the chain the other way around (in the front on a large sprocket, and at the back on a small one). the roller should not touch the cassette sprocket either.

HOW TO SET THE FRONT SWITCH

It is easier to adjust, but make sure it is properly secured before adjusting. We set the minimum speed, weaken the tension of the cable, and turn the screw L. There should be a gap of one millimeter between the frame and the chain.

Now the cable should be secured with a screw (number four in the picture). There should be a good tension and at the same time it should lie in a special groove near the screw.

Now we set the maximum speed and do the same for the screw H. We achieve a gap of one millimeter. Adjust to the extent that the chain sits well over the large chainring.

Now you can ride your bike. If there is poor switching to smaller stars, then you should twist the cable tension adjuster (located on the shifter on the steering wheel) to loosen it.

The same action should be done if poor shifting to large sprockets occurs (only the cable should be pulled).
