How to replace the camera on a bicycle front wheel

What pressure should be in the bicycle chamber

The value of this parameter depends on the type of tire. To minimize the risk of damaging your bike tube, consider the dimensions of your bike tire. Typically, the minimum and maximum allowable tube pressures are marked on the tire. For hardtails, this parameter is 2.5-3.0 atmospheres. For bicycles, it can be increased to 5.0.

If the wheel is large and poorly inflated, the likelihood of breaking the integrity of the rubber is higher. In addition, the roll is getting worse, the ride is more difficult. If the wheels are too inflated, then when driving on bad roads, shaking intensifies, and permeability becomes worse. It is also necessary to take into account when optimizing pressure and own body weight. The higher it is, the more pressure inside the wheels should be.

When buying new bicycle tires in order to replace damaged ones, remember that you do not need to save. Cheap products are the risk of punctures that you will constantly patch up, spending your own time and your own nerves.

Assigning a camera to a bicycle

The bicycle tube is designed to hold air in the wheel, give shape, elasticity and stability to the tire. This is a tube made of elastic material, equipped with an air injection nipple.

If you are going on a long bike ride, it is advisable to take with you, if not a wheel, then a spare “rubber” and a pump. If there is no spare wheel, grab at least a rubber repair kit.

What tools will you need to replace the camera yourself

Here are the minimum tools that come in handy for rearranging wheels on the go.

  • Bicycle assemblies made of plastic or metal. it is desirable to use them. If you use the tools at hand, the risk of damaging the bike is greater;
  • Spare “rubber”;
  • Pump. You can change the cycle tube without a pump, but you won’t go far on a flat tire;
  • “First aid” rubber kit: glue and repair patches. “Velo first aid kit” is also equipped with detailed instructions on how and in what order to make repairs.

    The size

    When choosing a bike tube, make sure that it fits exactly the size of the wheel. But the sizes of the wheels of iron horses are different:

    To correctly change the bike tube, pay attention to the markings on the tire. The first two digits, respectively, indicate the size of the landing diameter and width of the tire in inches. Further, in brackets, the same parameters are indicated, but in millimeters.

    How to replace the tire or camera on a Xiaomi QiCYCLE bike

    A bicycle is such a thing that sooner or later you will be faced with the need to repair the camera, or you just want to replace worn-out tires with new ones. And our favorite electric cable, QiCYCLE, is no exception. Of course, such an operation on it is a little more complicated than on a regular bicycle, but if you have a small set of tools, you can do it yourself without going to the service.

    In this article, I will describe the process of removing both wheels and replacing the camera.

    Since the QiCYCLE is an electric bike, you need to start any action by disconnecting the battery. This golden rule must be followed in all situations, and sooner or later it will save you a lot of money on repairs.

    SRC: How To Remove Your Front Wheel On Your Bicycle

    How to remove the front wheel QiCYCLE

    First, we will learn how to remove the front wheel, it is easier to work with it.

    On the left inner side of the front fork, unscrew the screw securing the holder for the fender and the cable leading to the motor.

    Using a 19 key, unscrew the right fastening nut.

    We remove part of the magnetic lock and the washer under it. So far, everything on this side.

    On the left side, remove the plastic cap.

    We unscrew the nut (in the same way as the previous one). Remove the grooved washer and lock washer (dropout booster).

    Now unscrew the screw securing the front brake cable.

    The brake pads will come apart, and nothing will interfere with the removal of the wheel.

    However, all this can be omitted if you let the air out of the wheel in advance

    replace, camera, bicycle, front, wheel

    Now it is better to put the bike on its right side. The wheel can already be removed, but do not forget about the motor cable connector.

    The wheel is free. Note that on the right side is the corresponding dropout amplifier. And he stands with a ledge outward. On the left side it was the other way around.

    Bleed the air from the chamber (if there is one).

    Using a plastic spatula, pry the tire from the side opposite to the nipple.

    QiCYCLE can be removed very easily even by hand.

    Here is the QiCYCLE camera marking just in case.

    Wheel assembly always starts from the nipple side.

    Since I removed the front wheel, I also checked the performance of my spare motor, which I bought very cheaply last year. The QiCYCLE motor turned out to be fully operational, new, hurray.

    Once again about the correct assembly sequence. On the left side, the dropout amplifier is first put on the axle, then the washer, then the nut.

    On the right is the dropout booster (before installing the wheel), then the washer, then the magnetic holder, then the nut.

    Remember to connect the motor cable connector (aligning with the arrows on both sides) and secure the holder to the inside of the plug. And also attach the brake cable back.

    How to remove the QiCYCLE rear wheel

    There are a little more operations with the rear wheel, but in general there is nothing complicated.

    First of all, set the shifter to 1st gear.

    Using a 10 key, unscrew the screw that secures the pusher body and remove the body.

    On the left side, unscrew the second axle nut in the same way.

    Now you need two 10 keys to unscrew the rear brake mount. One wrench. on the nut on the back of the feather, the second wrench. on the bolt in front.

    Remove the chain and the wheel is free. But the rear brake cable keeps it from completely removing it. (In the photo you can also see the force sensor removed. I overdid it, you don’t need to remove it).

    Although there is already access to the tire and tube, it is still better for convenience to unscrew the rear brake mounting nut and remove it. This will require keys for 8 and 17.

    The brake is not screwed on very tightly, so the nut can be unscrewed easily, after which the brake can be easily removed.

    And now we have in our hands a completely dismantled rear wheel.

    I will not demonstrate how to change the tube or tire, since this procedure is completely analogous to the actions on the front wheel.

    We assemble and install the wheel in reverse order. Important: first tighten the right axle nut, then the left (where the washer is). Then the load cell will not be overtightened.

    After all the steps, check the functionality of the bike. Basically, if the work was done carefully, no problems should arise. QiCYCLE is very easy to disassemble and assemble.

    Disc brakes

    Bicycles using disc brakes on the hub need special attention. Wheel disc brakes (Dual Pivot, Linear Pull, Cantilever, Sidepull, etc.) generally do not use significant axle pressure. Disc brake systems are fork mounted and apply a load to the rotor that is attached to the hub.

    There is an external hub axle load which tends to push the axle out of the frame pad. It is especially important to secure the pin properly in disc brake systems.

    Removing the front wheel from the fork

    Removing a wheel is the simplest maintenance procedure for your bike. This is done very simply:

    • Turn the bike upside down.
    • Release the rim brake, remove the caliper from the disc.
    • Loosen the fasteners from the fork dropouts.
    • Remove the wheel axle from the mountings.

    On dropouts, the mount is nut and eccentric. In the first case, you will need two 15 mm wrenches. we hold the nut with one, and gently twist the other on the opposite side. With the eccentric, everything is easier. loosen the retaining nut and fold the clamping lever.

    • tightening / loosening of the spokes;
    • bulkhead bushing;
    • rim painting.

    Installing the front wheel on the fork is done in reverse order.

    Removing the front wheel

    To remove the front wheel, the first step is to release the brake. Most brakes have a simple mechanism to release the brake without any tools (v-brakes).

    If you cannot easily detach the cable, lower the wheels.

    Front Wheel Removal and Install with a Quick Release

    Pull the eccentric handle towards you, then, holding the nut on the opposite side, turn the handle counterclockwise until the wheel is free. The handle tightens the eccentric, and is usually labeled “open” and “close” on both sides. The eccentric shaft passes through the hollow shaft and is threaded at one end. The two springs on the eccentric point with the narrow side inward, and should be on the outside of the frame or fork. Springs are used to provide clearance when removing or installing a wheel.

    Wheel installation

    The wheels must be properly fitted to the bike frame. Misalignment can lead to problems with shifting and adjusting the bike. If the wheel is not securely fixed, it can fall off during the ride and injure the cyclist.

    Rigid axle bushings use axle nuts on the outside of the frame plate. The axle nut contains a washer built into the axle nut, or a separate washer. If the washer has teeth or knurls, then they are connected to the recess to secure the wheel. Lubricate the threads on the axle when the wheel is mounted on the bike.

    It is often easier to mount the front wheel when the bike is on the ground. When placing the bike on the ground, the axle must be completely in the pad on the frame.

    Make sure that the cam lever for locking the axles of the wheels is in the open position and that its brakes are open.

    Place the wheel in the pad on the frame. Make sure the hub is fully seated in the frame or fork.

    • On the rear wheel, first turn the gear back and place the smallest gear between the top and bottom of the chain. Place the wheel between the brake pads, hooking the smallest gear on the chain.
    • Cam mechanism for securing the axles of the wheels: tighten the axle so that the lever meets resistance 90 ° from the frame or fork.
    • Straight axle: move the axle in place and turn clockwise until it stops.
    • Solid axle: tighten both nuts on the axle until they stop.
    • The use of a torque wrench is recommended. However, if it is not available, an effort must be made. For 25 Nm, apply about 40 pounds of pressure to the end of a 5 “wrench.

    Determine the end position of the lever closing. Rotate the front arm and adjusting nut so that the arm ends up just at the front of the fork. Place the rear arm between the chain support and the seat. Reposition the lever as needed if it is not fully closed.

    Re-remove the brake mechanism if applicable.

    Make sure the wheel is in the center of the frame or fork. Loosen the nuts on the axle and, if necessary, adjust the center of the wheel in the frame and retighten.

    Make sure the brake pad rim is centered on the wheel and adjust as needed.
