In terms of the likelihood of a puncture, there is most likely no difference whether the tire is inflated to the maximum or lowered. When the pressure in the tire is low, then as soon as the wheel rushes over a sharp edge (a pothole in the asphalt, a curb), the tube will be punched against the rim. Two cuts are formed on it, similar to the mark from the teeth of a snake. This is especially true of rubber on road bikes and hybrids.
Therefore, try to keep the tire pressure close to maximum when driving on asphalt. Regarding soils. a separate conversation, there, on the contrary, for better adhesion to the surface, lower pressure is preferable. The maximum and minimum pressure values are written on the side of the tire and are usually marked in PSI.

3) If you have “assemblies”, use them to remove the rim from the wheel, if there are no assemblies, you can use a handy tool (wrenches, etc.), but it is advisable not to use objects with a sharp edge. this can damage the camera or rim. Pry the tire with your tool and push it against the rim until the edge of the tire crawls out of the rim, then take the second key or assembly and do this action again, while DO NOT take out the first key when you feel that the keys do not lean back when you release them. just try to draw the second key in a circle around the side of the first key.
4) Take out the camera by simply grasping it with your fingers. Take on the opposite side of the nipple (spool).
5) In principle, you can insert a new camera, but I recommend removing the tire completely (this can be done with your hands or with assemblies (keys)). And check the condition of the rim if there are any metal burrs inside, check the condition of the rim tape, view the inside of the tire. How to glue the camera

A hub is one part of a bicycle wheel that requires periodic maintenance. On average, you need to look into it once every 2000 km of run, in terms of time it is 2-3 months of active driving. If the wheel is already squeaking and there is a decrease in the efficiency of rotation, in other words, the great rides worse, then it’s time to remove it and inspect the hub.
The main problems with the bushing are backlash and insufficient lubrication of the bearings. Due to a violation of the fit or increased friction, the parts begin to wear out rapidly. If the wheel has not been serviced for a long time, the bearings may crumble altogether. To gain access to the bearings of the hub, you will need to temporarily get rid of the rear sprockets.
The reverse gear is removed using a puller and a so-called whip. Removing the cassette is a short-lived affair, but it will take a lot of effort to unscrew it from the wheel. In stages it looks like this:
- The stripper is inserted into the cassette nut.
- The whip holds the large star of the system so that it does not turn.
- With a wrench, the puller rotates, unscrewing the slotted nut.
- We remove the small stars that are installed on top, carefully fold them to the side along with the washers, and then remove the cassette itself.
Before disassembling the hub, you should slightly loosen the spoke tension. This can be done using a round key with knocked out holes for different diameters of the knitting needles. You need to loosen a little, a quarter of a revolution is enough. If the sleeve needs to be replaced, the spokes must be unscrewed enough to easily pull it out of the engagement.
A complete bushing replacement is required if both the axle and the bearings become unusable. However, often when the bushing is jammed, the axle is in normal condition, it is enough to change the bearings. Often, both will still serve faithfully if they are well lubricated. Proper lubrication will prevent parts from wear under dynamic loads.

The bulkhead of the axle part of the wheel is associated with cleaning the axle and bearing balls from dirt. The removed parts must be temporarily placed in a solvent, then allowed to dry, lubricated and reinstalled. Bearings in a skewed position must be adjusted by returning them to a straight position. However, during the backlash, the parts are already faulty, so replacement is the best option.
Remove the tire
The first step is to disassemble the wheel using edgers. It is not necessary to remove the tire completely, it is enough to remove it only from one side and remove the damaged tube from there. After that, you need to understand what exactly caused the puncture, it is possible that a small wire or glass remains sticking out somewhere in the tire, so carefully check it from the inside, otherwise you cannot avoid repeated puncture. Be careful, it is possible to injure yourself if you get stuck with a sharp object.!
If you hit a big pothole, then there is a high probability of a breakdown. Also, damage to the camera can be caused by improperly installed rim tape, sharp edges of the nipple hole, or tearing off due to improper camera installation. It is better to determine the reason right away, so that, as already mentioned above, you do not step on the rake again.
Inspecting the tire for any sharp objects stuck in it, do not forget to shake out sand and dirt from it. We also check the installation of the rim tape, it may have moved out somewhere and the edges of the holes are visible, in this case it needs to be corrected.
Next, we slightly pump up the new camera (it’s easier to put it inside the tire) and install it in place of the old one, evenly laying it inside. At the same time, make sure that the nipple is installed evenly and clearly looks into the center of the wheel, and not somewhere to the side. Next, evenly put on the sidewall of the tire on the rim, starting from the nipple. There are tires that dress loosely enough, but they usually require the use of edgers. After that, we once again inspect the wheel, whether the camera has accidentally come out anywhere and pump it up with a pump to the required pressure.
This is about replacing the camera. But you won’t always carry several spare cameras with you, and there may be more than one puncture. Therefore, in addition to a spare camera, you should always have a repair kit with patches and glue. There was a puncture. Which nipple to choose for a bicycle camera?
Through the one-way valve of the nipple, air is pumped into the chamber, it also keeps the air in the chamber.
There are 3 types of nipples that can be used for a bicycle tube:
- Sports Presta;
- Bicycle Dunlop;
- Car Shrader.
The oldest and least reliable type of nipple is the Dunlop. Previously, they were found on Soviet-made bicycle models, today fewer cameras with such nipples are produced.
Presta sport nipples are found on mountain bikes, road bikes and hybrid bikes. True, recently it has begun to be used on simpler bicycle models.
The most common type of nipple is the automotive Shrader. It is very convenient to have a bicycle camera with just such a nipple, because in this case it will be possible to pump up the wheel even at a gas station. In general, most manufacturers now make universal pumps that fit both Shrader and Presta nipples. Therefore, you can choose either of these two.
The procedure for gluing the camera is as follows:
- we find damage (if the hole is very small and cannot be found right away, then you can pump the camera and lower it into the water, the bubbles will immediately show you the place where the air comes out)
- estimate the size of the damage and estimate the size of the patch required
- we clean the damaged area from dirt, sand it with sandpaper
- apply a thin layer of glue to the size of the patch
- after that we wait a couple of minutes, detach the patch from the base to which it is attached and glue it with the same side
- smooth and firmly press the patch for a while. The adhesive dries quickly, so the camera can be used almost immediately.
