If the brakes are well adjusted, a full stop during braking occurs when the brake lever is depressed to the middle of its full travel. If this is not the case, then either the brakes are faulty or they are incorrectly set.

The brake pads must be free of wear and potholes. The grooves should be clearly visible on the inner surface of the shoes. If the grooves are worn out, then the pads must be replaced with new ones. Roll both wheels with the brakes released. the gap between the shoe and the rim should be approximately 1-3 mm. In this case, even when the handle is pressed to half the stroke, the pads should adhere to the rim with the entire plane. If the contact occurs with less pressure on the brake lever, it is necessary to loosen the tension on the brake cable. If you press too hard. pull the brake cable.

Mechanical disc brakes can also be adjusted by cable tension. Brake pads wear out over time and need to be adjusted regularly to wear more evenly.

If your bike has hydraulic brakes, inspect them for brake fluid leaks. There should be no even minor leaks, as fluid can get on the brake pads and rotor, as a result of which braking problems can begin. For problems with disc hydraulic brakes, it is better to immediately contact an authorized service center, as repairing them usually requires special equipment and skills.

SPEED SWITCHES

It is necessary to check the function and accuracy of the speed switches. Spin the rear wheel by weight and change gears. It is necessary to check how both the front and rear derailleurs work when shifting gears from low to high and vice versa. The rear derailleur rollers must be in good working order. The chain must not touch the rear derailleur brackets. Switching should be smooth and precise. If necessary, adjust the operation of the switches yourself or contact an authorized service center for help.

CHAIN

Examine the chain. a worn chain will grind down the sprocket teeth faster. The average chain resource is about 4 thousand km. depending on how actively and where you ride.

During operation, the pins (pins) connecting the links wear out and the chain lengthens. Therefore, we recommend that you measure the chain with a special gauge to determine the degree of its elongation. It is better to understand when the chain is already worth replacing so that it does not start spoiling the stars.

If the chain is in order, it just needs to be rinsed. To do this, you can use a special machine that allows you to wash the chain without removing it. Gasoline or WD-40 can be used as a detergent. After cleaning, dry the chain thoroughly and lubricate with a special silicone based lubricant. After lubrication, remove any residues from the outside of the chain.

STEERING UNIT

Check the handlebars and stem for cracks or other defects, stem and stem bolts are tight. Tighten the stem screw if necessary. alternately, criss-cross. It is also worth checking if there is any play in the steering column.

If the bike was stored with the handlebars folded, it is necessary to adjust the handlebars, namely: adjust the height and center of the handlebars and the center of the front wheel relative to the handlebars. Pay attention to the handlebar center marks. To center the front wheel of the bicycle relative to the handlebar, loosen the handlebar fasteners, clamp the front wheel between your legs and fix it perpendicular to the handlebar.

CONNECTING ROD SYSTEM

Check the connecting rods for any play. To do this, first shake the connecting rods in the plane perpendicular to their rotation, and then in the plane of their rotation. in both cases there should be no backlash. If there is still a slight backlash, it can be removed using a special key. If the backlash is strong, it is better to contact an authorized service center for a more thorough diagnosis.

Inspect the chainring and sprocket teeth. If the teeth are severely worn or deformed, the chain will jump and fly off. better to replace the stars. Use a hex wrench to check if the chainring bolts on the right connecting rod are tight. Finally, make sure that the pedals rotate freely and without extraneous sounds.

SADDLE

Adjust the height of the saddle so that your foot can easily reach the pedal when the pedal is in the down position. Adjust the seat angle. it should be horizontal. Finally, adjust the saddle back and forth. Tip: The distance between the toe of the saddle and the stem should be the same as the distance from the toes to the elbow.

BOLTS AND CLAMPS

Finally, use the hex wrenches to check that the stem bolts, steering column, gear and brake derailleurs, saddle clamp and seat post are tight. Do not apply excessive force to avoid stripping the threads.
