All sizes have tolerances from half a millimeter to a millimeter, but these should be avoided to avoid fork play, which has a very negative effect on ride quality. It is clear that we are talking about these standards if the column is threadless.

Step 2

However, it should be borne in mind that certain steering mechanisms will be more appropriate for different styles and disciplines of riding, winning with their unique advantages, despite outdated standards and other shortcomings. So for walking, road, comfortable bicycles and cruisers, the threaded steering column is definitely in the lead in all its variations, since only it allows you to adjust the height of the handlebars together with the stem in a fairly wide range, providing fine tuning for ideal comfort and personal ease of landing.
