After a year of service, the rubber in them turned into a mess, while during removal the chamfer on the hexagon was rolled up and it was necessary to saw the fixing ring with a file.

How To Remove/Install Bike Handlebar Grips
If you have a road bike then grips probably won’t work for you. We will use in this case a special rubber band.
The sequence of actions in this case is as follows:
- We fix the bicycle brake cables with strapping tape. This is done so that the cables do not interfere with us when winding the tape around the steering wheel;
- The left and right handlebars are wrapped with tape clockwise and counterclockwise respectively;
- There is a small piece of tape in the tape set, which is used to slide it under the brake lever cap. Usually the tape is wide enough that this short length of tape is considered justified. If the tape is narrow, then quite often cyclists pass the section of the brake levers in an eight. throwing the tape alternately in the shape of an eight, wrapping the brake levers in this way. If you have a wide tape, then in this case, an uncomfortable build-up of an extra tape (bulge) may form, which you absolutely do not need. In short, use the very short section of the tape for this;

We reach the point where the tape breaks and carefully cut it off with scissors;
- Now it remains only to wind the electrical tape on the cut off area. We lay down the electrical tape in several layers and cut it off. We go through steps 3-5 with the opposite handle of the bike, winding the tape in the opposite direction.
I would also like to say in pursuit that sometimes some tapes have so-called caps. They are convenient in that they form a single whole with the tape. We put on the cap and start winding the tape. By the way, there are also special soft long grips for road bikes. Which one to think for you, but more often they still use winding tape in such cases. Depending on the type of liquid used, as well as the material of the pen, the period can be from 15 minutes (in the case of alcohol) to a day (if oil was used).
If the handle “sits” too tightly on the handlebars, you can pierce it with a syringe needle in several places and pour water. Rubber, non-rigid grips can be heated in hot water and can be removed easily. For the same purposes, it is convenient to use a hairdryer or an electric kettle with boiling water.
How to put on the handlebar grips
If the new handles are too tight and don’t want to fit on the handlebars, you need to make the inner surface smoother. The standard and safe way is to use several (five to six) plastic ties (ties). Insert them into the grip, distribute them evenly around the circumference and put the handle on the handlebar tube in a circular motion, it will slide very well. Then carefully pull out the clamps. At the same time, sometimes the grip continues to “go”, so do not put it on to the end, leave about 5 mm of free space.
Ties may not be necessary, as you can also put on old grips on the bicycle handlebars using the above described method with a sliding liquid. Only in this case you need to lubricate the steering wheel itself. If there is no set of clamps at hand, and the water-alcohol method did not help, there is another way out of the situation. They can be successfully replaced by a small piece of sling (you can cut it off from the handle of an unnecessary backpack). Slide the fabric into the grip so that there is a long enough “ponytail” from the edge for you to grip comfortably with your fingers. Slide the handle onto the handlebar and then pull out the sling. A quick way, which is good when you need to put on the handles and go straight away: sprinkle hairspray on the inner surface of the grip. It glides well and instantly locks the handle.

Two of them are located along the edges of the handlebars on the sides of the cyclist, and the third is under the handlebars on the left. The right mirror is also often convex. This is required to obtain a fisheye effect, which greatly increases the viewing angle. When choosing a mirror for a bicycle, if possible, you should pay attention to the following:
§ paint drips, chips, cracks and other mechanical damage are excluded on the body and other parts of the mirror;
§ high-quality rubber parts (casings and seals) should always be soft to the touch;
§ screws and other fasteners must be galvanized or otherwise protected;
§ the ends of the optical element must be covered with a layer of protective varnish. Otherwise, after a short period of use, corrosion will appear on the edges of the reflective surface.
The adjustment mechanism is checked by turning the control knob. In this case, the optical element should move smoothly, without jerking or jamming, and precisely fixed in a given position. I heard that some instead of soap used oil or wd40, but in my opinion, this is not entirely correct. the oil can be absorbed into the material of the grip, and then it will scroll.
Option number two is a little more gimmicky. You need to take the bike to the kitchen or bathroom, and put the grip under hot water. Once it heats up, it pulls off the steering wheel easily enough.
Probably more experienced cyclists are well aware of this procedure (or vice versa, they did not encounter a problem at all), but this trick may well come in handy for beginners.

There have also been cases when the locking latch is so tightly “stuck” to the steering wheel that sometimes there is no other way out but to cut it off and throw it away. In this case, you will have to additionally purchase a brand new retainer (often the retainers come with grips of a certain company). It is worth noting that the best way to remove the grips is. this is a method of twisting with rotational movements around the steering axis.
Currently, there are four main ways to remove old grips. such as:
If, with the grips, it is in no way possible to remove them from the steering wheel, due to the fact that they are firmly “stuck” to the iron steering wheel, then it would be best to cut them off and throw them away. To do this, you need to insert a screwdriver between the iron handle of the bicycle and the grip. pour grease there, and then try to twist the grips. Also, when lubricating the steering wheel, it is important to remember that it is necessary to apply the fluid in several places at once, and it is desirable that the grease lies on the entire area of the grips. over, in this case, if you nevertheless removed the accessory, the steering wheel must be quickly and dry after lubrication. Otherwise, grease remaining on the handlebars will prevent you from installing a new grip. which will no longer be able to lie so tightly on the steering wheel. 3.
