- With a wrench, the puller rotates, unscrewing the slotted nut.
- We remove the small stars, which are installed on top, carefully fold them to the side along with the washers, and then removing the same cassette.
Before disassembling the hub, you should slightly loosen the spoke tension. This can be done using a round key with knock-out holes for different diameters of the knitting needles. You need to loosen up a little, a quarter of a revolution is enough. If the sleeve needs to be replaced, then the spokes must be unscrewed enough to easily pull it out of the engagement.
A complete replacement of the bushing is required if the bearings have become unusable. However, often when the bushing is stuck in a normal state, it is enough to change the bearings. Often, both will still serve faithfully if they are well lubricated. Correct lubrication will prevent parts from wear under dynamic loads.

The bulkhead of the axle part of the wheel is associated with cleaning the axle and bearing balls from dirt. The removed parts must be temporarily placed in a solvent, then allowed to dry, lubricated and reinstalled. Bearings in a skewed position need to be adjusted by returning them to a straight position. However, during the backlash, the part is already faulty, so the best option would be to replace.
Removing the sleeve

How to remove the front and rear wheel on a bicycle
Removing the front and rear wheels requires almost the same steps. Despite the fact that much more equipment is installed on the rear wheel, there will be no significant differences here.
- Follow the steps below, depending on the type of brake installed on your bike. For the rim brake system, it will be necessary to unclamp the brake pads so that they do NOT interfere with the removal of the wheel. In the case of a V-brake rim system, you need to compress the pads and pull out the archwire. You can do without unclenching the pads, for example, deflating a wheel. If your bike is equipped with a disc brake, go to the next step.
- Turning the bike over with the saddle and handlebars on the ground. In this position, it will be most convenient to remove and install the wheel. This should be done carefully enough so as not to damage the equipment mounted on the handlebar and NOT to scratch the gearshifts with the saddle. Bicycles equipped with hydraulic brakes should not be kept upside down for extended periods. In this position, there is a possibility of air entering the system, which will lead to a deterioration in braking performance; to eliminate this problem, you will need to bleed the brakes.
- Now you can unscrew the nut holding the wheel to the frame. There are two types of nuts. an eccentric nut or a regular nut. The eccentric is a lever that securely fixes the wheel in the extreme position away from itself. Accordingly, we bend the eccentric towards ourselves, then weaken it so that it will be possible to remove the wheel. An ordinary nut should be unscrewed with two keys, or with a second suitable tool. The nut can only be loosened, to a state where it will be possible to remove the wheel.
- When removing the rear wheel, the only problem that can arise is the chain. If it snags. Remove it from the axle. The rest of the attachments do not need to be touched.
- Now you can remove the wheel by simply pulling it up. For bicycles with disc brakes, do not apply the brake without a wheel installed. If you do this, the pads will compress, and until you open them, the wheel will not put back on.
Bikes that use disc brakes on the hub need special attention. Wheel disc brakes (Dual Pivot, Linear Pull, Cantilever, Sidepull, etc.) generally do not apply significant axle pressure. Disc brake systems are fork-mounted and apply a load to the rotor, which is attached to the hub.
There is an external load on the hub axle, which tends to push out of the overlay on the frame. It is especially important to secure the pin properly in disc brake systems.

3. Tighten the wheel:
