Can I lubricate the WD40 bicycle chain

I often come across the opinion on the Internet that WD40 is an excellent universal lubricant, and people use it in many cases, including to lubricate a bicycle. Is it correct?

The fact is that WD40 is not literally a lubricant. The composition of this liquid is white spirit, some substances that the company keeps secret and just a little light oils. At its core, this drug is a solvent, not a lubricant.

Chain lubrication

Ideal bike chain lubrication strategy. Spray WD40 on it, then turn the pedals ten times so that the dissolved dirt crawls out and wipe it off with a rag.
